When you have downsized drastically to the farmhouse of your dreams but… you still need, crave and desire plenty of storage… you search for it wherever you can.
How often do you find yourself lamenting... if only we had more storage?
I have this gorgeous oak Hoosier Cabinet that my Daddy lovingly restored many, many years ago and gifted us when we moved to the farmhouse. It has place of pride in my dining room. And, even tho the Hoosier has a lot of interior storage space (literally enough that it holds my husband’s grandmother’s twelve piece setting of china), it still had “dead” space underneath.
So, my husband made this rolling box with hidden casters so that the box can slide underneath the cabinet and provide a large drawer for additional storage. Yes, it’s just a plain unfinished box from repurposed shelving – for now – but it will be transformed soon. I will be staining it to match the Hoosier then I will embellish it so that it looks like it has always been a part of the piece. Stay tuned for the reveal…
